Facts about the Earth Hour

Earth Hour began on March 31st, 2007 in Sydney, Australia. This event was marked by switching off all the lights for one hour.

More than 2.2 million individuals and 2000 businesses turned off their lights for one hour to mark the event. Since then, Earth Hour has spread to more than 7000 cities and towns across the world.

The Earth Hour was initiated by the Earth Hour CEO and Co-Founder, Andy Ridley in the year 2007. The initiation of the Earth Hour resulted in a partnership between WWF-Australia, Leo Burnett, and Fairfax Media. The sole purpose of the partnership was to look into issues concerning the climate change and do the needful.

The sole purpose of Earth Hour was to get many people to realize that climate changes are happening and to involve people in working towards preventing drastic climate changes that can affect the earth and all the people living on planet earth.

Earth Hour is observed towards the end of March each year.
